Carefully matching a horse's personality with the rider, our staff encourages participants to begin a friendship with their designated horse. These friendships can bring healing and hope to those who desperately need it and may last for years. Our horses are gentle and well-trained; safety is of utmost importance to us while the riders are in session.
Faith is a buckskin Paint with one blue eye and one brown eye. She enjoys learning and hanging with her buddy Skittles. Faith is very athletic and loves taking a gallop around the field once in a blue moon. She is very willing and eager to please.
Flash is a handsome Paint. He competed in many western pleasure competitions as a two year old and placed eleventh in the nation. After his show days, Flash continued in high levels of training.
He is extremely intelligent and loves to learn. Flash has been working at GRR since 2013. He is a true “Gentleman” of a horse. He has a very gentle and kind spirit which is evident to everyone who works with him.
Skittles has the most personality of any horse on the Ranch. He is extremely curious and loves to have fun. While working with guests, Skittles has been known to untie himself and as many of his fellow herd mates as possible and then ensure all of the brushes are scattered about.
We are convinced Skittles thinks he is a dog. He loves being bathed on hot summer days, but if no staff are around to help with the hose, a dip in the water trough will do just fine.
Obe is a black and white Pinto with two blue eyes. He was born at GRR in 2001. He has traveled from North Carolina to Alaska and many places in between.
Obe loves trail rides and exploring new places. He is full of personality.
Tinker Bell is a paint Percheron with blue eyes. Despite being the largest horse in the herd, “Tink” is the most popular horse on the Ranch.
Lots of young girls ask to work with Tinker Bell. Often they are surprised and a little taken aback when they see how big she is. But they quickly overcome any fear they may have when they meet Tinker and see she has a soft, quiet spirit and takes extra care to ensure the safety if her riders.
Mr. Fibbs is a Paint, Tennessee Walking Horse. He has been a valued member of the Ranch herd since 2009. Mr. Fibbs loves to have his ears scratched and to be bathed on hot summer days. He is very patient and enjoys his work.
